VAIO

The ultrathin VAIO
Dear All,

This is my first posting since a long time and my first using my new VAIO. I must say the laptop is more than what I expected. Be sure to hang tight while I try out all the possible things I can do with it and have a review soon.

I know out there there are plenty of technical reviews and benchmarks already so I will do nothing of the sort.

More like I will try to see how it fits into normal everyday life.

At the moment weighing under 2 Kgs it is really really portable. The only drawback is the AC adaptor that weighs like a brick. At least while walking to the plant I now have something to throw at the wild dogs roaming around.

Tonight I will be driving back to Kerteh. Accompanying me will be my good buddy from CUF, a neighbouring plant. The plan is to take off from KL around 7.30 pm.

I must say it has been one very very interesting trip. I met a senior of mine from my A Level days, reminiscing with him and all. I was able to talk to Ustaz's colleagues and get to know them better. I was also able to install MS Office, Lotus as well as get to test run the new Vista! Guess what, the Vista feels like running LINUX under the bonnet. Oh yeah, Ustaz gave me a program that enables me to run Vista, LINUX and windows at the same time! How cool is that!

The next project is to turn my current PC into a media centre. And before KKL says anything.. no, it will not cost a thing.. Just reformatting the hard disk putting in Windows Media Center software etc. It would finally turn the PC into an entertainment system that it has been destined to be!

Regards

kah kah kah kah kah kah

you know what KKL, today when i read O-K's comment on my blog i said to myself "i hope KKL doesnt blame me for this ..."

i guess now we know what you feel.

i feel sorry but happy for o-k at the same time. confusing feelings :)

congrats o-k, it's so nice to own new gear. but in the future if i buy new gear i would take pictures of opening it & post on my blog.

did you say you use linux? and vista is like linux? if you mean vista is like linux's Xgl interface (you know the 3D desktop stuff) then you're probably right. but apparently vista's interface is much more beautiful, right? i'd be so impressed if vista's aero interface could work on the vaio.

btw which vaio is it? dual core ke? man, i getting that fluttery feeling ... mana gambar?????
how much did it cost?

laptop into media centre = definitely man. the vaio plays HD streams without much problems as far as i've tested it.

Akum all,

First of all..Dear.. you are right ;) It wasn't me... It's all min's fault.. kah kah kah..

The Vaio I bought is the SZ 280GPC
Centrino Duo T 2500,
1 GB RAM
NVidia Go 7400
DVD DL Burner etc..
100 GB HD
13.3" screen

For the media center I don't plan on using the vaio... my current desktop does not have the oommphh to play modern games, plus, I dont play anymore... a fact I found out by accident when I installed Oblivion but only played in for thirty minutes...

So the desktop will be the new media center playing DVDs, saving TV programmes (like TIVO) and will be the hub of the Kuantan house entertainment system. the specs are just right,

P4 2.8
1 GB RAM
280 GB hard disk
Geforce FX 6600 GT

The Lcd screen is for the laptop do make it into two screens, the media center runs on a projector (in the far future)

All this is combined with 7.1 surround sound THX certified system

Haha.. Honda.. the Power of Dreams
Proton... Dream On...

Hehehehe.

To celebrate O-K's shopping spree, I went on one of my own. :D

O-K nak duit extra? Vaio boleh beli, takkan tak boleh hulur skit kat sini... :D

hehehe nak beli apa tu KKL? i've long abandoned my lust for gadgets. i still admire them, but in terms of buying tak sangat dah. ive wanted a new HDD for absolute ages, tapi tak beli2 lagi.

the vaio specs are darn cutting edge (minus bluray drive je, but for that tunggu lah 2-3 tahun lagi baru popular, if at all). i'm very impressed they could put all that in a 13.3 inch screen laptop.

the soalan cepu emas is:
dah try games?

Kylie Minogue.. CAn't get you out of my head..

Hmm

My ADSL modem kat rumah kaput...nanti nak kena call telekom untuk replace.. replacement is free..

Once that is okay baru boleh post pics.. tadi cuba hantar jugak but darn slow so had to abort.

Games tak cuba as it is a working laptop.. I must say that may thirst and lust for games have somewhat diminished... hehehe..Now I prefer productivity tools such as playing around with Adobe, MS project and stuff.. I hae plenty to learn especially from ustaz.. now I need to think of how all this can be benficial to me in the long run..

Any way, if you want tos see the pics of the laptop try www.sonystyle.com.my

go to VAIO, SZ series.. Mine is SZ 28GP/C

Don't get me wrong,

I still like looking at the advancements in technology and perhaps enjoy the story line ..but nowadays I do not find them engaging....cepat bosan in other words...

So rather than waste time playing currently I am reading more as well as watching dloaded programs..

btw.. tm net was kind enough not to charge me this month as I have not been using streamyx..thank you TM!

pics were taken in the plant on my work desk.. there was a picture of a toilet paper roll so I had to crop like mad!

In the plant I am not allowed to bring my dslr in...

maybe when I have time later I'll take more decent photos with it.

Hmm the first photo I cheated a bit.. it is not that thin.. there was pink padding material between the lid and the casing, so the first picture is actually the thinness of the lid... ;)

O-K

Can't say I am not pleased that you are spending more time reading. This means that work has become less demanding and you have more time for yourself? Want more books Dear?

Mynn

I have mostly gone off many famous-brand perfumes, bar a few that O-K bought me. Now am venturing into the wonderful world of Arabian perfumes. Yes I know mostly the attar people get during Hajj/Umrah are not that great, but I came across really really good, high quality ones, that in comparison are good value for money. There is an Arabian Perfumery in Oxford Street, with quite a wide selection. I love the ones that they keep in ornately decorated glass jars, and pour out into tiny vials for customers who buy some. They also serve you tea/coffee while you sniff your way around. Excellent service! I buy stuff only when I get a good discount, so ask for one! I guess I like the stuff as it is totally oil-based, so the perfumes mature the longer you keep them, unlike alcohol-based perfumes which go off after several years. Also you can buy small amounts rather than being forced to invest in a huge bottle. I get bored after a while, so for me it is better to have tiny bottles of different scents rather than huge bottles that I am unlikely to go through in a short amount of time!

Hmm maybe this deserves an entry on its own...
